There's a reason we notice when a monarch drifts by. Some say they're a sign, a soul stopping in to say hello, a flash of orange and black carrying a little bit of someone we loved. Whether you believe that or just love the feeling of it, monarchs have a way of catching your breath mid-afternoon and making you look up.

Here in the Finger Lakes, they're a seasonal visitor we watch for, drifting through summer gardens and riding the wind along the lake in early fall on their way south. This painting captures that fleeting, beautiful moment, delicate wings caught mid-flight, painted in soft watercolor washes true to the monarch's natural color and grace.

This print is a gentle reminder to look up, to remember, and to welcome whatever (or whoever) shows up on the breeze.
